The wateraid print advert communicates meaning to an audience through the use of a symbolic media code. The symbol of the sad child is being used to draw audience attention to the anchorage text (key information). The use of the word grave could connotate the deaths of millions of children. The colour blue could suggest tears and also lack of clean water and the blue shirt the boy is wearing is quite scruffy and dirty. This colour scheme could be used to show peple how sad and devisitating living in a poor country can be.

The Stracolate advertisement uses a split pastel colour palette to communicate a message of inclusivity and a variety of diffrent flavours available. the symbolic code of a single cone with 2 diufrent flavours could show that each flavout could be made for a symbolic flavour as it could mean that the side with pink clouds could be advertised more to girls and the side witht he blue clouds could be to boys. This shows that the ad is made for all genders and shows that they are very yummy.
